Pupils prepare for a special performace

Three young singers from East Dunbartonshire who have won places in two of Scotland's most prestigious choirs are to perform locally.

Mhairi Hendry, a s3 pupil from Bearsden Academy, is set to join the National Girls’ Choir (NGC), while her fellow songbirds Jessica Chappelle, a s2 pupil from St Ninian’s, and Robyn Taylor, a s2 pupil from Boclair Academy, will become members of the NGC Training Choir.

The girls, who currently sing in the East Dunbartonshire Youth Choir, have been recruited to a national platform thanks to the talent they have shown during performances.

And now, there’s a chance to hear them on their home turf on Tuesday, March 15, at 7pm in Wester Cleddens Primary School, Bishopbriggs.

The evening’s programme includes songs from traditional Scots melodies to well-known classics, plus Irene Rendell’s beautiful adaptation for children’s chorus of The Selfish Giant, featuring Scottish Opera baritone Steven Faughey.

Tickets will be available on the door.
