Work by talented senior pupils from three local secondary schools is going to be displayed at The Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie this month.
This is a unique opportunity for pupils in fifth and sixth years at Bearsden, Douglas and Boclair Academies to have their best art shown in a professional gallery environment.
Five other secondary schools from east Dunbartonshire will also include pupils work in the Class Acts exhibition that fills two gallery spaces.
Esmee Thompson, Cultural Co-ordinator at East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust, said: “The exhibition will be the first time that most of the pupils have seen their artworks displayed in a professional gallery environment.
“It’s an exciting opportunity and is popular among family and friends.”
The exhibition opening is going to be held on Friday, December 11 from 6pm to 8pm.
It will continue until Thursday, December 17 except on Sunday and Monday when the gallery is closed.
Esmee added: “Each year the support we get from the schools is fantastic. The teachers and heads of department help out with putting on the exhibition and it’s really good to see how much the pupils enjoy having their artworks on display.”
This is the third year that the Lillie Art Gallery has hosted the festive event. James Higgins, Lillie team leader, said: “The Class Acts exhibition is a welcome addition to our gallery space at this time of year and runs alongside our art and craft exhibition.”
