East Dunbartonshire council leader Rhondda Geekie has welcomed the latest quality of life indicator to give East Dunbartonshire top honours in Scotland.
The Family and Childcare Trust’s annual UK-wide survey rated the area as best in Scotland – a result Councillor Geekie says reflects well on the efforts of hard-working education, social care and leisure staff.
She said: “Our schools have an excellent reputation, with pupils consistently achieving great results.
“We have been award finalists for our positive destinations work with young people and as a council we are committed to supporting employment locally.
“It is encouraging to get national recognition for the services we provide, particularly in such financially challenging times – and given the report is made up of both formally reported statistics and data, as well as parental views through the survey.”
The area is also a consistent winner when it comes to public health and longevity.
