Campsie Mayfest goes virtual

To overcome the Covid-19 lockdown, a Virtual Campsie
Mayfest of Music and Art will be held up to the end of May on Campsie Fest Facebook and Twitter pages.

Friday, 22nd May 2020, 2:56 pm

This ambitious wee local festival includes a virtual Campsie Countryside Walk, art exhibition, children’s art workshop with professional artist Derek Gray, concerts of Jazz, Classical, previous footage of Campsie Ceilidh Band and Campsie Scottish Folk Players, and a Young Performers’ Concert.

A video of Campsie countryside walks is available, plus great scenes from previous Mayfests. Each day, images will encourage people to visit areas of the village. A ‘capture this’ challenge will be hosted, with people encouraged to send their own photos to [email protected]

A virtual art exhibition will include images of works by local artists – from May 21-23. A video of a children’s art workshop with Derek Gray will be posted next Monday. Children are also asked to send in their own artwork which on May 30-31 will be posted on social media. Virtual concerts will include Allander Jazz Band, Milngavie Chamber Strings, Campsie Ceilidh Band and Campsie Scottish Folk Players from previous Mayfests.

A virtual young performers concert will be on May 30 and 31, involving previous performers. Local groups and music schools are asked to encourage performers - music dance, magic comedy, etc - to send videos or images by May 29. Email [email protected] Performances will be shared on FB and Twitter.
