A rush-hour train has collided with a car near Uphall station in West Lothian.

The Edinburgh to Helensburgh 4.39pm service was approaching the station when the collision occured.

Passengers have reported windows shattering and said there was “panic” on the train following the smash.

ScotRail has warned that services on the Edinburgh to Helensburgh line will be disrupted until the end of the day.

The operator tweeted: “Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line near #Uphall, services between Edinburgh & Helensburgh/Milngavie may be cancelled.”

All the emergency services are attending the incident which is understood to have occurred near to the Roman Camp cottages at Uphall.
