Spring is in the air and exciting times are ahead for Mugdock Country Park, which has unveiled a new adventure trail, visitor centre and shop.

The new visitor centre opened on March 1 and is now the first point of contact, where employees are on hand to help with everything - from booking events and hiring rooms to providing maps of the park, and advice on walks and trails.

Children are invited to pop in and draw a picture in the children’s corner. There is also a gift shop with a variety of children’s games, books and toys, and an extensive range of greeting cards and gifts.

Visitors can pick up a ‘what’s on’ events guide - detailing all the activities at the park and in East Dunbartonshire.

The new visitor centre and shop were created as part of a wider redevelopment of the offices and meeting rooms, comprising a total investment of £60,000.

The council has also invested £25,000 in a new adventure trail - a fun mini-obstacle course - which is aimed at children aged eight and over.

Other attractions include cafes, bike hire, the theatre and products made by local craftsmen and women (Mugdock Makkers).

The MugStock festival of musical and merriment returns this year from July 29-31. For tickets visit

Councillor Eric Gotts, Chair of Mugdock Park Joint Management Committee, said: “I am delighted to officially welcome people to the new visitor centre, shop and adventure trail.

“Spring is in the air and the park is looking particularly beautiful.

“Why not pop out and enjoy a day out in one of the jewels in the local crown?”
