This follows an outbreak of the virus, which is also known as ‘the winter vomiting bug’, at nearby Clober Primary School - which is a feeder school for Douglas Academy.

A health alert text was sent out to parents today from Douglas Academy to offer advice and about good hygiene practices to try to prevent the illness from spreading.

The text also advises parents to keep pupils away from school for 48 hours if they show symptoms of the virus - severe sickness and diarrohea.

The NHS website says that people with the virus should try to avoid going to their GP, as norovirus can spread to others very easily. Call your GP or NHS 111 if you’re concerned or need any advice.
