No foul no fair, says pooch poo postergirl

Rouken Glen Park recently got behind the national Ditch the Dirt campaign to raise awareness of dog fouling in the park and other green places in East Renfrewshire.

Young people aged 18 and under made their contribution by entering a poster competition to design an anti-dog fouling poster.

There were three winners in all, Heather Barnes from Newton Mearns (pictured), Cait Mallin from Glasgow and Jason Vadivello from Bedfordshire.

Environment convener Vincent Waters said: “Dog fouling is a common problem and a disgusting health hazard especially to children.

“Also, East Renfrewshire Council’s parks service has appointed a seasonal dog warden who carries spare dog mess bags in his van.”

The campaign is an ongoing appeal to dog walkers to be considerate to others who use parks and public places. The idea for the poster was part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s contribution to the recent We Love Parks Week.
