New scheme looks at mental health issues

A ground-breaking programme is being piloted in East Dunbartonshire, which will train people to challenge mental health stigma in the area.

The new Community Champions programme, run by See Me, will train leaders from across the area, who will then work with a wider group of people to identify the challenges that mental health stigma and discrimination present.

The support workers will then take action to change people’s perspectives on what is seen as a somewhat taboo subject. Following this first phase, See Me, will start recruiting people from all over the country.
