Do you know a young musician keen to start playing in groups and have fun in the process?
The friendly and thriving Bearsden and Milngavie Youth Orchestra is looking for new members, expecially woodwind and brass players. They have been in existence for almost 40 years with four different orchestral groups: wind band, string, concert and symphony orchestras.
Each group caters for different abilities so that players can experience a group situation from an early stage in learning their instrument. Any child aged eight to 18 and who has been playing an instrument for over a year can join. They don’t hold auditions and meet at Douglas Academy, Milngavie, on a Thursday night 7pm to 8.30pm, term time (August to March). They start back on August 20. There is always a short break so the children can socialise over a juice and biscuit or two!
They usually play two concerts, at Christmas and Easter. Visit www.bmyo.org.uk/ or visit them on a Thursday evening to find out more.
