The community was thrilled to see inside the newly transformed village hall in Killearn when it opened last weekend.
Ownership of the dilapidated old town hall was transferred from Stirling Council to Killearn Community Futures Company (KCFC) at the end of 2012 and building work started in May the same year after they secured a £1.5 million grant plus £500,000 in donations and other grants.
The building, on Balfron Road, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility with magnificent views of Loch Lomond one side and the Campsies on the other.
Caroline Critchley, Treasurer of The Village Hall committee, a subgroup of KCFC, said: “The opening day was lovely and helped by the fantastic sunny weather.
“About 700 people came and they were all very positive about the refurbishment, saying that it was beautiful.
“We’re very pleased with the results, it’s a wonderful venue for weddings etc.
“We hope the hall will be well used and we’d like to thank everyone who made this project a reality.”
The coffee shop is going to open on Monday, August 19 and will be run by Simon Whitley, a former head chef at some exclusive Scottish hotels.
Classes such as metafit, zumba and yoga are being held in the hall and the games rooms are available to rent.
