The competition was part of their work during Fairtrade fortnight. The church asked that all entries be submitted along with a list of their Fairtrade ingredients, but otherwise gave bakers a free hand to decide what kind of cake to make.

Kirsten said:“I was very impressed by the skills on display at Newton Mearns Baptist Church. The cakes entered into the competition were amazing. They looked fantastic, with the Fairtrade theme even coming through in the decoration, and they tasted even better.”
