East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson and her husband are celebrating the birth of their first child, a boy.

Baby Andrew Lennox Marshall Hames was born just before Christmas, on Sunday, December 22.

The LibDem Business Minister tweeted about the new arrival, saying: “Duncan and I are delighted to welcome our son to the world, weight 7lb 10oz. All tired but very happy!”

Jo’s husband Duncan Hames, who is MP for Chippenham, near Bath, also tweeted about the big news, saying: “Very grateful to the wonderful team of midwives who helped deliver our son – really proud of Jo & am enjoying getting to know Andrew.”

The couple married in 2011, six years after Ms Swinson (33) became an MP.

Mr Hames has announced he will be standing down as Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg’s parliamentary private secretary to spend more time with the baby.
