MP Gregg McClymont to hold winter summit to prepare constituents for severe weather

LOCAL MP Gregg McClymont is to hold a winter summit this week to bring together the local community and other key players in preparing for the difficulties a cold snap may bring.

Representatives from local community councils, Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council, Energy Action Scotland, Scottish Gas and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue amongst others will gather in the Village Hall on Friday afternoon at 4.30 p.m. to discuss the problems posed by severe weather and what action each organisation is taking to assist the community over the winter period.

Gregg said: “Everyone will no doubt recall the difficulties we encountered during the spells of severe weather over the last two winters. North Lanarkshire Council has recently published their annual winter maintenance plan for 2012-2014 it now seems opportune therefore to discuss these matters with partners and stakeholder organisations.
