Mozart’s Requiem and choral works to be performed by Bearsden based Kelvin Choir

BEARSDEN’S Kelvin Choir will be performing Mozart’s Requiem in Ruchill Parish Church on Saturday, May 11.

The programme will also include a selection of other choral works and features orchestral accompaniment by members of the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra as well as guest solo singers.

Kelvin Choir was originally set up as the Bearsden Training Choir in the summer of 2005 and was the brainchild of the then musical director of the Bearsden Choir, Jim Hunter. It is a non-audition community choir and welcomes members of all abilities including those who have never sung in a choir before.

The choir now has approximately 60 members and rehearses on Tuesday nights at St Andrews Church Hall, Roman Road, Bearsden. and it will be conducted by its musical director, Jenny Cunningham, head of expressive arts at Kelvinside Academy. Members of the audience are invited to stay after the concert to enjoy refreshments which are included in the ticket price.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets, which cost £12 (children £5) are available from the choir’s website, from choir members or at the door on the night.
