The newly refurbished Milngavie Post Office on Douglas Street was officially opened by the local MP on
Friday, October 18.
Jo Swinson, who cut the ribbon at the opening of the new-look Post Office, said: “I’m delighted that this branch has been modernised as part of the largest investment programme in the history of the Post Office.
“The coalition government is working to guarantee the sustainable future of our Post Offices by avoiding closures and maintaining a network of at least 11,500 branches, investing £1.34 billion over the course of this Parliament to achieve this.
“Post Offices like the one in Milngavie provide vital services to more than 20 million people every week who visit to send letters, manage their finances, and for the hundreds of thousands of pensioners who rely on them for their pensions.
“The new-look branch with its modern premises and Saturday afternoon opening will be welcomed by customers. I wish the agent, Mr Jaswant Singh Sambi every success with the business.”
Mr Sambi said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to modernise the Post Office and are very pleased to be re-launching it today for the community. It has been transformed and all the hard work has been worth it.
He added: “I’d like to thank my Ms Swinson for coming today, and also my customers for their patience and continued support.”
