A local girl won a fantastic experience recently which allowed her to enter the ‘Happy World of HARIBO’.

Christina Cafolla (6) from Milngavie, won a national competition to be named a HARIBO Little Apprentice - which gave her the chance to experience the exciting sights and smells of the famous sweet factory.

Christina was one of just ten children chosen as apprentices - she got to work with the HARIBO team, meet brand mascot Goldbear, took a tour around the factory, tasted brand new treats and came up with her own imaginative sweet suggestions, flavours and textures.

To win the prize Christina explained what she would do if she ran the HARIBO factory for a day and she invented a new sweet treat- HARIBO raspberry bows and lemon and lime bears.

HARIBO’s marketing manager, Hayley Johnson, said: “HARIBO Little Apprentice is a really popular competition so Christina should be really pleased that her treat idea secured a visit to the HARIBO factory. We also liked the fact that Christina was really passionate about seeing how HARIBO treats are made.”

She added: “Everyone who visited the factory had a fantastic time, I know they enjoyed seeing how HARIBO Starmix is made and also tasting some of our top secret treats. It was certainly an experience which we hope they will remember forever.”

Christina said: “It was really good - a hundred million percent. The best bit was putting the sweets into my own tub. I will tell all my friends about the day when I go back to school.”
