Milngavie First Aid Group seeks Commonwealth Games volunteers

Milngavie First Aid Group is looking for volunteers in the run up to the Commonwealth Games when they come to Glasgow next year.

The Milngavie branch offers a vital first aid service to the local community, as well as providing support at larger venues such as Partick Thistle games, and combining with other first response groups at premier national events such as T in the Park and national football events at Hampden.

Lending her support for more volunteers, MP for East Dunbartonshire, Jo Swinson, said it was a great way for young people to develop very important skills.

She said “The programme provides the opportunity for young people to develop their skills in first aid and gives them the experience of working at a range of events alongside adult volunteers, providing essential first aid cover.

“With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 the group will need many more volunteers.”

Ms. Swinson recently paid a visit to the Milngavie’s St Andrew’s First Aid volunteers to observe their training which takes place every Thursday to observe their training programme.
