Milngavie and Bearsden pupils rewarded for all their card work

Jo Swinson, MP has visited local schools to congratulate the winners and runners-up of her annual Christmas card competition.

The winners of the contest were chosen by a panel of judges in Bearsden last month.

Louise McKenzie, of P6A at Killermont Primary School in Bearsden, won the Christmas picture competition and her artwork has been printed on the card front cover.

The Christmas poem competition, which has been printed inside the card, was Jack Gilkes, P5 at Clober Primary School in Milngavie.

Prizes for the competition have been donated by Milngavie Bookshop and the two winners will each be awarded a £20 book token.

Amongst ther runners-up was Rosie Willis, P6 Clober Primary, and Callum MacDonald, P3 at Bearsden Primary School.

They will each receive a £10 token.

Joining Ms Swinson in judging the hundreds of entries sent in were Susan Frize owner of Milngavie Bookshop and local photographer Gavin Ritchie.

Ms Swinson has sent the cards out throughout the constituency.

The MP said: “Well done to Jack and Louise! Their picture and poem will look fabulous on the finished product.

“As always it was a very difficult decision as there were so many excellent entries. With the card being sent out to more than a thousand local groups and individuals, so many people will be able to enjoy their talents as well.

“I’d like to thank sponsors Alan Oliver of Aroprint and Susan Frize.”
