As part of National Consumer Week 2015, East Dunbartonshire Council’s Trading Standards Service has organised a series of local roadshows from November 3-5 to provide information and free and impartial advice on a range of consumer issues.
Running since 1998, National Consumer Week is an annual event which is organised by the Trading Standards Institute to raise awareness amongst consumers of a range of issues that impact on their daily lives.
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Know your new rights”. It aims to raise awareness of and promote the use of new consumer rights that were brought into force through Consumer Rights Act legislation on 1 October 2015.
Specialist advisors will be on hand at Sainsbury’s in Kirkintilloch on Tuesday, November 3, 10am-4pm, and at B&Q in Strathkelvin Retail Park on Thursday, November 5, from 10am-4pm.
Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “I hope that local people make the most of this great opportunity and come to speak directly to our officers at these events during National Consumer Week 2015.
“Any local resident who ever has a concern about the purchase of goods or services, a possible scam, doorstep callers, or any other consumer issue, should always contact the council’s skilled and experienced trading Standards Team for help and advice by telephone on 0345 123 4510 or by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org”
