Local elections - parties and candidates await their fate

COUNTING is underway in East Dunbartonshire’s local elections.

Voters will elect elect nine councillors in for Bearsden and Milngavie, three from each of the three wards - Bearsden North and South and Milngavie.

There are 45 candidates standing across East Dunbartonshire and they will be elected using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system.

Voters in Mugdock, Strathblane, Blanefield, Drymen, Killearn and Fintry will elect three councillors to represent the Forth and Endrick Ward on Stirling Council.

First results are due at around noon today.
