It’s thought that a drugs smuggler from Lenzie could be released from a Peruvian prison later today.
Melissa Reid (22) was jailed three years ago after she and her travelling companion - Michaella McCollum (23) from Ireland - were caught carrying 11kg of cocaine at Lima airport in 2013.
McCollum was released in March but has had to remain in Peru under parole conditions.
Reid, meanwhile, was expelled from Peru last month and since then has been waiting to be formally freed so she can return to Scotland.
She will have served around a third of her sentence and has also been fined around £2,000 for trying to smuggle the drugs worth an estimated £1.5million which had been hidden in food packets.
