Kirkintilloch date for Scottish Socialist Party

How the Scottish Government can support local communities will be the theme of a Scottish Socialist Party meeting at the Miners’ Welfare and Social Club in Townhead, Kirkintilloch, on Saturday (October 31).

The meeting, at 11am, also features a talk by SSP regional organiser Richie Venton, followed by informal discussion.

Recent events to be covered in Richie’s talk include fracking, test licences and INEOS, forthcoming budget cuts, business water privatisation and news of steel closures.

A spokesman for East Dunbartonshire SSP said: “Richie will provide an informative and challenging talk on what options are available to local people on these issues which affect everyone locally and nationally.

“The rest of the meeting will focus on campaigning plans in the local area including the vexed question of Fracking, with INEOS proposing to consult with the local community in the next few weeks over their immediate plans. What should local people do about this?”

Local people are invited to come along and listen to Richie and have their say. Everyone will be made very welcome.
