THERE was a bit of ‘buzz’ around Kilmardinny Arts Centre in Bearsden recently when girls from local schools were there to rehearse a play called ‘The Christmas Bee’.

The young people took part in East Dunbartonshire’s Creative Learning Network which involved working with the Visible Fictions Theatre Company for the past three months to create a performance aimed at a pre-school audience.

The theatrical adventure combines classic storytelling with interactive play and has all the components of a feel-good time at the theatre and more.

Children from Hillfoot Nursery in Bearsden, Riverside Nursery, Bishopbriggs Childcare Centre, Happy Days and Buchanan Nursery were entertained by the performers earlier this week.

Chair of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, Councillor Stewart MacDonald, said: “This is a fantastic example of creative intervention through drama, working with a professional theatre company to build skills and confidence in young people. I am sure these pupils have found this experience very challenging and rewarding.

“Well done to them for all for their outstanding hard work, courage and stamina; they are very talented young performers in the making.”

This opportunity is supported by Education Scotland and Creative Scotland.
