This year’s Fintry’s annual Fintry Flower Show was a huge success.
The event always brings the community together to enjoy a variety of floral and vegetable displays in Menzies Hall.
Top awards were: Hamilton Cup to the best flower grower – Chris Drapper, Culcreuch Castle Trophy to the best exhibitor – Katherine Cowtan, Roy Cup to the best family – the Cowtan family.
Awards for the best exhibits in each section were: Roach Trophy for Vegetables – Cecily Roy, Dunmore Trophy for Cut Flowers – Barbara Paterson, McEwan Trophy for Flower Arranging – Katherine Cowtan, Wilson Trophy for Pot Plants – Margaret Strang, Cookery Cup for Baking and Housewifery – Cecily Roy, Fintry Inn Cup for Craft – Glenise Hughes, Kilewnan Cup for Art – Katherine Cowtan and Palgrave Trophy for the Children’s Section – Elizabeth Cole.
The special awards were: Hailstones Cup for the best onions – Archie Strang, Dundarroch Cup for the best tomatoes – Lorna Flisch, Henderson Trophy for Jubilee Memento – Pippa Cowtan, Loudon Trophy for the best HT rose – Helen Watson, Jimmy Rae Cup for the best dahlia – Chris Drapper, Balgair Rose Bowl to the winner of the cut flower challenge – Glenise Hughes, Recipe Cup to the winner of the given recipe class – Penny Shaw, Mitchell Cup for the best photograph – Julie Borland, Society Trophy for children’s endeavour – Pippa Cowtan, Fintry School Cup for the best in children’s horticulture – Mhairi Noonan, Fintry Development Trust award for an environmental poster – Cecily Roy.
