Westerton was starting to feel very Christmassy at the weekend when community groups gathered to sing carol songs at the village Christmas tree followed by a lantern walk to the church.
Children from Westerton and Colquhoun Primary School choirs, Westerton Fairlie Memorial Church choir and local brass players joined in this festive event which was the last one in a series to celebrate the centenary of Westerton Garden Suburb this year.
Organisers wanted to resurrect the longstanding tradition of the children’s lantern walk and Christmas carol singing which used to take place in Westerton every year but became less popular when double glazing made it hard for residents to hear.
Everyone enjoyed a warming drink and snack when they arrived at the church and a slide show of photos from the 11 events that were held this year to mark Westerton’s 100th birthday.
