A lucky lady who scooped the top prize in the first draw of the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice Lottery told how she had to sit down when receiving the phone call that she had just won £2000.
Mary Hamilton is the first lucky winner of the recently launched lotto.
There were a further 13 lucky winners who received 2nd prize of £250, 3rd prize of £100, 4th prize of £50 and a further 10 prizes of £10.
Mrs Hamilton, from Duntocher, met Sister Rita, Hospice Chief Executive, when she visited to collect her cheque.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it when I got the phone call to say I had won. I never win anything and I had to sit down when told the news. I am just delighted.
“I know the hospice from attending the Light Up a Life service and sponsoring lights at Christmas time. I was happy to support the hospice through the Lottery.”
Sister Rita said: “It is lovely to be presenting the first Lottery cheque to Mrs Hamilton. She is delighted to have won and we are delighted to have the Lottery, which will help to generate a regular income of much needed funds for the Hospice. We have to raise approximately £40,000 each week to deliver our services to those most in need.”
The hospice Lottery is a monthly draw and for a monthly entry of £5, entrants have a chance of winning one of 14 guaranteed prizes with a top prize of £2000.
