SCHOOLS, charities and community groups are being urged to apply for their share of cash from Dobbies Garden World community campaign.
The ‘Here We Grow’ project is now in its third year and Dobbies in Milngavie has a bursary worth £5,000 to help its local community to get growing. They will donate gardening equipment and provide expert advice to help organisations transform their outdoor space or add some colour to a derelict piece of land to benefit local people.
Over the past year more than 50 projects have been supported in Milngavie – from veggie patches and water gardens to bulb planting and Christmas tree donations.
Ailsa Laing, community champion, said: “Here We Grow is a fantastic opportunity for people to get out into their gardens and grow.
“Throughout the year we will work with a variety of local groups who would like to create sensory gardens, veggie patches, wildlife retreats and create spring colour by taking part in our Big Bulb plant.”
To launch Here We Grow 2012, Dobbies is going to donate “Grow your Own” starter kits – including tools, seeds, plants and equipment for growing fruit and veg.
