Mr Jenkins said: “I’m delighted to be able to open the Yes Day event in Kirkintilloch. It promises to be a great day combining lots of fun activities with the serious business of talking about the tremendous possibilities offered by an independent Scotland.

“Events like this are about people coming together in their community and talking about the kind of society they want. Independence offers us the chance to create a fairer, better and more democratic society for our children and grandchildren.

“I encourage everyone to come along to Yes Day on May 31 and be a part of this great debate. We know that the more people hear arguments for independence, the more likely they are to vote Yes.”

Yes Day offers an opportunity to come along and chat with groups including Business for Scotland, Farming for Yes, Generation Yes, Labour for Independence, Radical Independence, Trade Unionists for Yes, Women for Independence and Yes LGBT.
