Have your say on important planning matters in your area

If you are interested in planning matters East Dunbartonshire Council would be thrilled to hear your views on a vital document.

People are being urged to have their say in the Main Issues report (MIR) which is the first step in producing a Local Development Plan (LDP) for East Dunbartonshire.

The aim is to make it easier for local communities, landowners and developers to engage with the development plan and help shape their areas.

Between October and November last year, the council’s land planning policy team held the Local Development Plan MIR consultation.

During this they received new suggestions from developers and landowners including housing on 24 sites, businesses on two sites and mixed housing and businesses on one site.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of the council’s development and regeneration committee, sai: “This is an important additional opportunity for stakeholders to shape the forthcoming Local Development Plan, due for publication in April 2015.

“It should be noted that these additional sites are not being promoted by the council. As they have been submitted by landowners and developers for consideration the council is duty bound to make them public and seek the views of the public.”

This additional stage of consultation will run from Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 20.

The sites and associated assessments can be viewed on the LDP pages of the council website - www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk - or alternatively at council hubs, local libraries, the council’s Broomhill Depot and Southbank Marina HQ.

Copies have also been sent to community councils in East Dunbartonshire.
