A former member of the Scottish Youth Parliamenthas been announced as the Green Party candidate for the Est Dunbartonshire constituency in next year’s General Election.
Dunbartonshire Greens have selected former Bearsden Academy pupil Ross Greer as their candidate. He has lived in the area all his life and represented the Clydebank and Milngavie constituency in the Youth Parliament.
He has been involved in campaigns to save local primary schools from closure, prevent the unwelcome expansion of a supermarket and led on the ‘Votes at 16’ campaign in Scotland.
Ross Greer said: “This election is quite probably the most important and most unpredictable for a generation. Here in East Dunbartonshire we have the chance to make a Coalition Government Minister answer for almost five years of falling wages, rising energy prices and an explosion in foodbanks. With the Greens now ahead of the Lib Dems in polling, we’re expecting a tight contest locally.
“I’ll be making clear that a vote for me as the Green candidate isn’t just for someone who has grown up here and understands East Dunbartonshire, but for policies which will help people across our communities and across the UK.”
