Going the extra mile '¨for dementia victims research

A group of hardy locals walked the Thomas Muir Heritage Trail to raise funds for the very worthy cause, Alzheimer’s Scotland.

Angi Inch, who organised the walk, is pictured with Jimmy Watson, Susan Adam and Claire Adam with the big cheque at the Thomas Muir Coffee Shop in Huntershill Village.

Angi said: “The camaraderie was amazing and when the walkers arrived at the Thomas Muir Coffee Shop they felt an amazing sense of achievement.

“We’re delighted with how much money we were able to raise that will help those in our local community.”

After the walk, participants met at the Aldessan Café, where they were 
welcomed by hot drinks and cake.

angi added: “It had snowed overnight and the walk looked as if it might not go ahead, but due to well-prepared walkers and the sun coming out it 
was agreed to push on, 
with contingency plans in place”.

Luckily those precautions were not needed and it became clear by the time the walkers had lunch in Macdonald’s in Kirkintilloch that they could happily carry on to Bishopbriggs.

Certificates were presented by the creator of the walk, Jimmy Watson, the cash raised will go towards dementia-inclusive activities in East Dunbartonshire.

This event will now be part of the Thomas Muir Festival for 2018.
