The second of three mini-festival events for Bearsden takes place this weekend.

This one is inspired by a weekend newspaper and it’s various sections will become live events.

Organiser Rev Roddy Hamilton from New Kilpatrick Church, said: “Every paper has a situations vacant page but we’ve turned that into a big societies fair with 50 voluntary organisations who work locally in the community all coming together to show the wealth of activity there exists in Bearsden.

“It’s this unseen value that makes a community robust and feel safer, because this is one way we get to know our neighbours.

“If you ever wondered what you might do this winter, or you have always wanted to try dry stone walling, play bridge or curl but never knew how to join up, then come along on Saturday between 10am-2pm. You might find the very thing you’ve always wanted to try but never knew where to start.”

Bearsden Festival started last year when a few people at New Kilpatrick Parish Church came up with the idea.

Rev Hamilton added: “We wanted to work in partnership with the community and welcome and support each other. That is the bit of being the church that makes most sense to me.”

It runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, August 23 in and around new Kilpatrick Church and Bearsden Cross.
