A stitch in time saves nine and you can learn how to sew and embroider by going along to The Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie which is hosting free Tuesday afternoon workshops from October.
Two members of the Embroiderer’s Guild will be there each week to help guide, encourage and demonstrate a stitch or technique, and how it can be applied to a craft or functional item.
Interested members of the local community, regardless of ability or skill, will be welcomed. All that is required is to bring their own stash of bits and bobs and the item they are working on. Guild members will be on hand each week to advise and support from the most basic to the more difficult forms of stitch and embellishment.
Maura McRobbie said: “Whatever your age or stage, you will be welcome. You can help keep the skills of stitch alive by joining us.”
Here are the dates of the workshops: Tuesday October 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 15, 22, 29 and December 6 and 13. From 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
