Hide AdHead teacher Gordon Moulsdale said: “It was a fantastic achievement. I’m absolutely delighted. Our results over the last few years have just got better and better.”
It follows a tremendous inspection report from Education Scotland at the start of this year, which bestowed an unprecedented four ‘excellent’ grades on Bishopbriggs Academy – making it the first school in Scotland to score so highly under new inspection guidelines.
Mr Moulsdale admitted the success had created its own pressures.
He said: “For weeks if not months after the inspection many schools from across the country wanted to visit and talk to us about how we managed to get all of those fabulous grades.

“The flipside of that is there is a danger you can take your eye off the ball and not provide the support our staff have done over the previous four, five, six years which has had such a positive impact on the performance of our young people. So it was a very difficult balancing act.
“Obviously you want to support colleagues in other schools, particularly those in East Dunbartonshire, but first and foremost our prime responsibility is to our young people.
“The fear was that because of the inspection the results might take a wee dip, but we’re absolutely delighted that’s not the case.

He added: “I don’t know that there is one secret – certainly there is a lot of hard work.
“We’re fortunate that we have some incredibly creative and innovative practitioners amongst our teachers.
“We’re blessed with wonderful teachers at Bishopbriggs Academy.
