The first acts have been announced for this summer’s Mugstock - the first music festival to take place at Mugdock Country Park.
Orkestra Del Sol and Preston Reed will get festival goers rocking and rolling at one of Scotland’s newest small family friendly music festivals.
The event which takes place from August 7-9 will be encouraging people to get their tickets early with the chance to snap up a weekend camping ticket for just £10.
Globally inspired, but distilled in Scotland, Orkestra Del Sol offer an explosive re-invention of global brass band music - which has captured imaginations, set pulses racing and got toes tapping across continents.
Preston Reed has been acclaimed as one of the world’s greatest guitarists - captivating audiences all over the world with his two-handed integrated percussive style.
Reed fuses chord-based grooves, soaring melodic runs and percussion which truly realises the breathtaking potential of the guitar.
Alan Govan, who first dreamed of the festival five years ago while visiting the park with his wife, said: “We are delighted to announce the first two amazing acts for MugStock: A Festival of Music and Merriment.
“Orkestra Del Sol’s legendary live shows burst with anarchic humour, wildly skilful musical arrangements and a roguish sense of theatre.
“Meanwhile, Preston Reed is one of the most influential solo guitarists of the last two decades - fusing blues, rock, funk and jazz.”
Mr Govan added that his team is working hard behind the scenes to create an amazing event which will showcase the park itself while being something special and unique for festival-goers.
The festival fits in with East Dunbartonshire Council’s efforts to promote East Dunbartonshire and stimulate tourism, economic development and usage of the park.
Councillor Eric Gotts, chair of Mugdock Country Park Joint Management Committee, said: “We are very pleased that the organisers have chosen the wonderful surrounds of Mugdock to host this very special event.”
