Plans to build 89 homes on site of former hospital

Plans to transform the site of the former Killearn Hospital into a new residential community have been approved by Stirling Council.

Members of the Planning and Regulation Panel on Tuesday 6 October backed plans by developers Cala Homes to build 89 new houses at the rural location.

According to the council, the proposals will create a vibrant community with plentiful green space and a village green on the derelict site.

A mix of house types consisting of bungalows, terraced, semi-detached and detached properties, ranging from two bedrooms to five bedrooms, will be built.

As part of the application, an area of the site has also been earmarked for development as commercial space.

Planning in principle has also been granted for CALA to develop a care home and business units.
