Easterton Stables event was the mane attraction!

Easterton Stables in Mugdock held its annual charity ‘blue’ day over a recent weekend with all those taking part dressed in blue.

The grand total of £2197.74 was raised for this year’s charity - Diabetes UK and a cheque was presented to representatives of the charity afterwards.

The day before the fundraiser the stables also held their annual Showjumping Derby, with over 50 horse and rider combinations compete.

One of the stable owner Rosemary Brown said: “On the Sunday visitors were encouraged to wear something blue to support the charity and there was face painting, pony rides, a raffle, tombola, baking and bric a brac stalls.”

The riding school children also organised some fun showjumping and pony games classes, while the more experienced riders took park in a Le Trek competition.

Stephanie Wood and Easterton Stables’ Frankie took first place in the Riding School category with Jennifer Sweeney and Polly, who had both travelled from Airdrie, winnning the Intermediate class.

Winner of the experts Le Trek class was Megan Allan riding Daisy with all 21 competitors winning gift vouchers and rossettes.

The Derby class 1 winner on Saturday was Diane Morrison riding Lewis who was presented with a cup in memory of Alan Monahan.

Max Hedgecoe and his pony Ruby won Class 2, won a cup in memory of Douglas Glen and Class 3 winner Iona Graham riding Cassie was presented with a silver trophy in memory of Margaret Brown.
