Carers throughout East
Dunbartonshire are set
to benefit from a massive
National Lottery grant
over the next five years.

The Carers Link programme in East Dunbartonshire have been awarded £411,625 to fund the Care—Aware—Prepare project.

Carers Link conducted a survey to identify the most pressing concerns of those the group support on a daily basis.

They found that many carers fret over emergency arrangements if they are suddenly unable to look after loved ones due to illness of injury.

And following the recent lottery grant, the Carers Link will be able to help provide a back up plan when such instances arise.

Jennifer Roe, chief executive of Carers Link, said: “Most people don’t give a lot of thought to the future, but for carers it is an ongoing worry in the back of their mind.

“They constantly worry about what would happen if they were to get sick or injured.

“It’s not just elderly carers that think this, as anyone could become sick or injured and have to spend time in hospital.”

She added: “We recently celebrated out ten-year anniversary and this award is just the icing on the cake.

“To know this service has been guaranteed for the next five years will come as a great comfort to the 750 carers will support in that time.”
