Doris, who has lived in the area for most of her life, is well known as a past president of Springburn Bowling Club and active member of Tron St Mary’s Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Margaret Chapter.

When she was younger she worked as a fishmonger in Maryhill, where she met husband Eddie who was the local baker. They married during the war 74 years ago and her dress was made from parachute silk. Eddie passed away in 1999.

An avid reader, she also worked in a bookshop and at Jordanhill College before retiring.
