A TALENTED dancer was thrilled to meet popular boy band JLS recently when she performed at their after show party.
April Stuart-MacRae (19) is a member of a new girl band called Gurlesque who were asked to be a supporting act at the event in Campus, Glasgow.
She also met X-Factor finalists The Risk, Johnnie, Frankie Cocozzi and Janet Devlin at the event.
April said: “JLS were absolutely lovely - I’m a huge fan of theirs so it was great to meet them.
“They invited us to have drinks with them in the VIP area after our performance which was fun - we spent the whole evening chatting away with them.
“We got on really well with The Risk boys as well and we are still in contact with them.
“Frankie Cocozzi was a great guy as well, he tried to get us back to his hotel room for a party!
“Janet Devlin was a real party animal - totally different from the way she came across on X-Factor. It was good to get to know who they really are.”
The former Douglas Academy pupil from Falloch Road in Milngavie has also been in Shanghai and Dubai this year, as well as touring Ireland with Gurlesque.
She was also a backing dancer for Britney Spears and Rihanna tributes and performed in George Square for Sport Relief.
Gurlesque has just been asked to support the live finalist singers from the new TV programme The Voice.
April’s mum Anne Marie, said: “April also recently found out that she is going to be the lead dancer in a music video which will be shot in Los Angeles this year for a Stateside record label.
“She got amazing feedback after her audition from the seven judges on the panel, including the recording artist, managers and directors of the record label.
“They said she was totally amazing, her choreography, her look and her personality pushed her to become the lead dancer out of 10 female and male dancers chosen out of hundreds of auditionees.
“We are all really proud of her - she’s doing so well.”
April now teaches hip hop to children in Springburn and her pupils were awarded first place in a competition which was judged by the A team from Sky TV’s ‘Got to Dance’competition.
Her next event is an annual showcase with tribute bands in Classic Grand, Glasgow, on Saturday, May 5 when she will perform with Gurlesque. Doors open at 7.30pm, no under 14-year-olds, tickets are available from her manager Scott Garvie by phoning 07891287188.
