GO along to an evening of exciting Baroque playing in Gartmore Village Hall on Friday, May 25 at 7.30pm.
Pleiades Baroque is a newly formed ensemble directed by the French violinist David Chivers. It consists of 10 musicians from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra including three local players, Jacquie Speirs, Gail Digney and Elita Poulter. Using gut strings, Baroque bows and playing at Baroque pitch, they bring 17th century Italian Virtuoso music to the audience.
Tickets £12, in aid of the Gartmore Village Hall refurbishment, children get in free and there will be a bar. Tickets from Gartmore Village Shop phone 01877 382214 or on the door. Make cheques payable to Gartmore Association.
STRATHBLANE Guild Spring Fayre - is on Saturday from 10am until midday in the Kirk Rooms in aid of the Children’s Hospice Association in Scotland.
There will be plants and bric a brac stalls, with the Strathendrick Pipe Band in attendance. Donations of baking can be handed in to the Kirkrooms tomorrow (Friday) night between 6.30pm and 8pm. Adults £2. Children get in free.
AN evening with Cole Porter - on Friday night in the Village Club at 8pm, go and enjoy the Cole Porter story presented by Friends of the Blane Valley Players, with proceeds going to The Blane. Tickets are £5 - take your own refreshments. An evening of wit, charm and memorable music is promised for all who go along. Tickets are available in advance from the library, or pay at the door on the night.

THE Village Club - the annual general meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 15 at 7.45pm. Some members of the very small committee of management now have other commitments and others have been members for a long time and wish to step back.
New and fresh ideas from younger people i, and maybe some not so young would be welcome. The club can only continue to be available to the whole community if it has an active and viable committee of management. People are invited to take this task on and lead The club into its next phase. A good attendance is anticipated and a warm welcome will be extended to all village residents.
BALDERNOCK gardening club has a plant sale on Saturday, April 28 at Milngavie and Bearsden Sports Club, Auchenhowie Road, from 11am to 12.45pm. Entry costs £2 and includes tea, coffee and home baking.
