DRYMEN WRI - at the first meeting of the new year everyone enjoyed a colourful ‘Trip to South Africa’ with Mrs M Callan.

DRYMEN & District Local History Society’s January meeting is a members’ night, with three members giving short talks. John Mitchell will speak on Postcards of Drymen 1900-1914, Bob Beck on churches in Strathendrick, and Jim Leiper’s talk is entitled ‘The West Highland Way, an early story’.

The meeting will be in Drymen Village Hall next Thursday at 7.45pm, and non-members will be very welcome, admission costs £2.

DRYMEN Village hall hosted Brain Taylor’s Big Debate at 12.15pm last Friday.

The BBC Radio Scotland show was originally scheduled for last month but bad weather warnings meant that it had to be cancelled.

BLANE Valley Burns Club - the Burns Supper will be held in the Edmonstone Hall, Blanefield, on Saturday, January 28.

STRATHBLANE Senior Citizens - over the last few months the group have had some memorable evenings, one of the highlights being the home grown quiz in November.

The St David’s music group also provided a very entertaining evening.

The new year started with a visit to the pantomime in Glasgow and on Tuesday this week.

Murray and Friends entertained the group with songs, rhymes, tunes and words, as ever a great night, ably pulled together by Murray O’Donnell.

The last Tuesday in January will be a quiz night hosted by David Anderson. All meetings are in the Edmonstone Hall at 7.30pm.
