DRYMEN WRI - members heard all about Flanders Moss and the changes there over the years in an interesting talk from Mr F Chazel of Scottish Natural Heritage. The evening’s competition results were: lemon and cherry cake: 1st E. McCaig, 2nd A. Gilchrist, 3rd J. Kirkland.

DRYMEN and District Local History Society’s next meeting will be in Drymen Village Hall on Thursday, November 24 at 7.45pm. Peter McNiven will speak on History and Place-names in Mediaeval Menteith and Stirling.

Visitors will be most welcome, admission £2. The Society’s annual subscription is £5 which can be paid at the meeting.


Edmonstone Hall - the AGM of the management committee will be held in the Lesser Hall on Wednesday, November 23 at 8pm.

SENIOR Citizens - after their last meeting, the film quiz run and devised by Marian Tyson, the group is looking forward to its next meeting on November 22 at 7.30pm in the Edmonstone Hall. This will be a musical evening with St David’s Music Group.

THERE are still tickets available for a music night in the village club tomorrow (Saturday). Acts include The Buffs, The Wzny Mees (and guests!) Al Fleming and Ian McCredie and Two Men and A Boy. Tickets available in the library and local shop.

FUN Hut Photo Day - this will run from 9am until 12pm and places can be booked in advance. The photos will take place in the Kirkrooms. .

THE community council has organised a special meeting in the Primary School at 7.30pm on Wednesday. This meeting is important as it is a chance to discuss the whole village’s views on Stirling’s draft proposals on the local development plan.

CHRISTMAS Fayre - Strathblane Primary School is kicking off the festive season with stalls, waffles, Santa’s grotto and masses more on Friday, November 25. Doors open at 6.30pm and you can browse and enjoy getting in the festive spirit right up until 9pm.


BALFRON Primary Parent Council is holding a winter fair in the McLintock Hall from 7 till 9.45pm on Friday, November 25.

There will be loads of stalls featuring local businesses, cakes and mulled wine. Entrance costs £2.
