Costly pests

THE cost of council pest control services is set to double - from £20 to £40.

Prices will rise from April - and East Dunbartonshire Council say the change is in line with other local authorities

The service deals with a wide array of pests such as rats, wasps, fleas, bed bugs and even squirrels.

Exterminators say they will not deal with ants, foxes, bees, snails, slugs, woodlice, pigeons and other birds - but will offer advice to people experiencing problems with these.

Convener of housing and community services, Councillor Amanda Stewart said: “The council offers a comprehensive pest control service to the public and these costs will cover the initial inspection and subsequent return visits to make sure the problem has been eradicated.”
