Planners have approved a new phone mast on the Switchback in Bearsden which has angered the local community council.
The 15 metre structure on land adjacent to Pine View was given the go-ahead at last month’s EDC planning Board meeting despite objections from Bearsden West Community Council.
The application was granted subject to three conditions. These are: if the equipment becomes obsolete it must be removed, it has to be painted green and there must be at least 2 metres between the kerb and the equipment.
Robert Paterson, secretary of Bearsden West Community Council, said: “We are very disappointed this has been approved. We wanted the applicant to mast share as there are two radio masts within 200 to 300 metres of this one.”
