Closure threat to Lanark Sheriff Court
DIRE warnings of a near-breakdown in Clydesdale’s justice system have been made as the New Year saw a barrage of protest at the proposed closure of Lanark Sheriff Court.
The existence of a plan to close the court as part of a cost-cutting exercise was revealed by the Gazette following a tip-off last year and now local politicians and solicitors have joined in telling the government that any such move would be a disaster for administering justice locally and be a massively false economy.
