Celebrate St Mungo Lager launch with tour and meal for four

ST MUNGO LAGER arrived in Bearsden last week and we’ve got a super competition to mark the occasion.

We’ve teamed up with Glasgow’s WEST Brewery and the Burnbrae Inn to offer readers a chance to see how the lager is made - with some tastings and a two-course meal as well.

Readers took advantage of the free samples at Bearsden’s Burnbrae Inn last Thursday and manager Gerry Savage said: “The tasting night went really well and we sold a lot of St Mungo lager over the weekend.

“We are delighted to be supporting a local brewery and offering our customers something a bit different from the bigger branded beers. It looks like being a good addition to our premier beers.”

St Mungo is the flagship premium lager of WEST Brewery - sharing the name of Glasgow’s patron saint who founded Glasgow Cathedral and was also part of a fellowship of brewer monks.

WEST Brewery is situated at Glasgow Green in the Templeton Building, former home of the iconic carpet factory, which was designed by Victorian architect William Leiper, and is modelled on the Doge’s Palace in Venice.

It was built between 1888 and 1892 and was used as a production carpet factory until the 1950s. The building is unique in terms of its design and construction, and is now one of Glasgow’s most protected sites.
