The pupils and staff of Castlehill Primary’s Rights Respecting Group are pictured here showing off their recent Level 2 award from Unicef.
Castlehill is only the second primary school in East Dunbartonshire to receive this level of the award. Assessors who visited the school praised the school’s ethos and approach to promoting rights work and the link with a baby centre in Tajikistan. They also commented that pupils were highly engaged in school life and are given plenty of opportunities to express their voice through participation in school groups.
Missing from the photograph are the three parents who are also members of the RRS group; Joanne Fortune, Nikki Bell and Rachel Tainsh. Their support is invaluable and was described by the assessors as a ‘great endorsement for the school’s work’.
