Carers Link set to benefit from Celebrity Mastermind TV show

Carers Link, which has an office in Milngavie, has been chosen as the nominated charity by one of the stars taking part in Celebrity Mastermind.

Sony Gold Award-winning broadcaster and presenter Aasmah Mir was born and brought up in Bearsden and has chosen Carers Link to benefit from her appearance on the show.

Best known for presenting Saturday Live on Radio 4 and ITV’s ‘Tonight’ programme, she recently co-presented the results of the Referendum with Bernard Ponsonby on STV.

Jennifer Roe, Carers Link chief executive officer, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen by Aasmah.

“Her nomination is greatly appreciated, it’s a tremendous boost for the organisation.

“Such support on a national stage will recognise not only the hard work of our team of staff and almost 70 volunteers but also the hard work and dedication of carers everywhere.

“Hopefully it will encourage more carers to seek help or support from their local organisations at an earlier stage, as sadly too many people struggle on alone and only seek support when they are so stressed or exhausted that their own health and emotional well-being suffers to the extent that they just can’t continue.”

“Everyone at Carers Link is looking forward to seeing how well Aasmah answers the questions. Her episode is number 8 in the series and is anticipated to be aired on Saturday, January 3, on BBC One and Sunday 4, on BBC Scotland.”

If you are caring for a family member or friend, Carers Link is there to support you.
